How often should bearings be maintained? Theoretically, bearings can be used for 20,000 to 80,000 hours, but the specific life span depends on the wear and tear during use and the intensity of work.
Use a dry rag to wipe the cleaned bearing dry, and then soak it in anti-rust oil. During this process, the bearing must be completely in contact with the anti-rust oil and the bearing must be rotated continuously so that the oil film formed by the anti-rust oil can cover the surface of the bearing and achieve the purpose of rust prevention.
Next, use lithium-based grease and butter, which must be evenly applied to the surface of the bearing, including the inner and outer rings, wheels, and cages, and the bearing must be rotated while rubbing so that the butter can really enter the inside of the bearing and play a full lubrication role. First, put the bearing in gasoline to clean it, wipe off the sludge and dust remaining on the bearing, and gently polish all rusty bearings with metallographic sandpaper until there is no roughness when touched by hand.
The last process is packaging. In order to save costs, we "turn waste into treasure" and cut the discarded cement bags in the warehouse into bags of appropriate size, wrap the bearings tightly, mark the specifications and models of the bearings, and then put them back on the shelves for storage.
How to maintain bearings
In order to give full play to the bearings and maintain their proper performance for a long time, regular maintenance (regular inspection) must be done. It is very important to improve productivity and economy through appropriate regular inspections to detect faults early and prevent accidents before they happen. The storage bearings are coated with an appropriate amount of anti-rust oil and wrapped with anti-rust paper when they leave the factory. As long as the packaging is not damaged, the quality of the bearings will be guaranteed. However, for long-term storage, it is advisable to store them on a shelf 30cm above the ground under the conditions of humidity below 65% and temperature around 20℃. In addition, the storage place should avoid direct sunlight or contact with cold walls. In addition, when removing the bearing for inspection, first use photography and other methods to record the appearance. In addition, confirm the amount of remaining lubricant and sample the lubricant before cleaning the bearing.
Bearing maintenance steps
1) Remove the wheel first, remember to put away the screws, it will be troublesome if they fall off.
2) Remove the bearing. Some wheels have a very tight core and the bearing is difficult to remove. Use a hexagonal wrench (the one that removes the screws) to dig it out forcefully. Don't worry, the bearing is not easy to break.
3) Use a toothbrush to brush off the dirt on the surface of the bearing. It doesn't matter if you don't do this step.
4) Some bearings have removable side covers, while others don't. First determine whether the bearing is removable.
5) If it is removable, it is very simple. Use a flat-head precision screwdriver to pry up the C ring at the notch of the C ring, and then remove the side cover. Just remove one side.
6) If it is not removable, it is more troublesome and you need to use a destructive method. Use a precision screwdriver to reach into the gap of the side cover and pry up the side cover forcefully. Don't doubt it, that's it, but this side cover cannot be put back. Just remove one side, it will be ruined if you remove both sides.
7) Remove the side covers of all the bearings and start washing. Pour the stain remover into a bowl, throw the bearing in and stir.
